We are delighted to share that Houston & Hawkes has proudly won the CSER Award at this year’s prestigious Foodservice Cateys, a testament to our unwavering dedication to community, sustainability, and social impact.
A major factor behind this achievement is our strategic partnership with Magic Breakfast, where we funded over 7,500 primary school breakfasts in 2023, ensuring children start their day with nutritious meals. Our involvement as an Impact Partner for Cook for Good has also been pivotal, helping to combat food poverty and social isolation through community-driven initiatives. Additionally, our support for the Mud Kitchen Initiative in schools has further enriched children's learning and development through hands-on, nature-focused education.
On the environmental front, we've seen tremendous success with the introduction of our "Planted" food range, which promotes plant-based, sustainable dining options, contributing to a significant reduction in CO2 emissions across our operations. We’ve taken our commitment to sustainability even further by utilising carbon impact labelling via the Klimato platform, allowing clients and customers to make more informed choices about their environmental footprint.
Our focus on employee well-being is another cornerstone of our CSER strategy, with initiatives like mental health first aid training, support programs, and a concerted effort to champion diverse suppliers. In fact, we've exceeded our goals in increasing spend with diverse suppliers, a clear indication that we prioritise people and the planet over profit.
This award is a reflection of our B Corp commitments, where we strive for long-term sustainability, fairness, and transparency across all areas of our business.
